A graduate of The Conservatorium of Music in Sydney, John is a hard working and well respected musician. He left his home town in 1985 to join the faculty at the Canberra School of Music. In 1999 he travelled to Havana to study Cuban piano styles with Andres Alén.

He has performed at both the Thredbo Blues and the Thredbo Jazz Festivals, The Australian Blues Festival and the Manly International Jazz Festival as well as in the Island Jazz Festival in Samoa.

His composition "Millennium Jive" was a finalist in the National Music Oz  awards in 2002. In 2011 he performed his boogie-woogie show “The Bar On the Wrong Side of the Tracks” at the Street Theatre.
