Streaming Sounds

The Streaming Sounds program brings live concerts from the ANU School of Music to a worldwide and interactive online audience. Since our launch in 2009 thousands of worldwide viewers have joined us for this series, which includes Clarinet.Ballistix, The BigGiG, The 2011 Australian Chopin International Piano Competition, Alice in Antarctica, and the Music Antica Grand Potpourri Concert.

Musica Antica Grand Potpourri Concert

Sample some of the delights and highlights of the Musica Antica Early Music Concert Series. Visiting international artists Elizabeth Wallfisch, David Breitman and Carlo Barone were joined by Adrian Walter, Calvin Bowman, Arnan Wiesel, The ANU School of Music Chamber Orchestra, and other featured artists.

 


Alice in Antarctica

Alice in Antarctica features images, sounds and stories from Alice Giles' journey to Antarctica in 2011. This moving program includes readings from Madigan’s diaries and music he referred to while in Antarctica and the Australian premieres of works by Alice Giles, Larry Sitsky, Jim Cotter, Martin Wesley-Smith, Joshua McHugh, and a new transcription by Nigel Westlake.

 


Australian International Chopin Piano Competition Grand Final

The inaugural Australian Chopin International Piano Competition reached its conclusion with a livestreamed final and the awarding of prizes on May 8, 2011. Relive the excitement, as well as viewing special features interviews with the jury and backstage interviews with the contestants during the live event.

 


The BigGiG

The BigGiG features over 1200 children from 11 schools in the Australian Capital Territory gathering for a song celebration during National Children’s Week on the 29th October, 2010. Viewers from around the world watched the concert live online, singing along with us and interacting via the internet with our audience. Links are provided to the songs so you can sing along.

 


Clarinet.Ballistix

Streaming Sounds was launched from Llewellyn Hall on Sunday 16th August 2009 with the clarinet extravaganza Clarinet.Ballistix. Featuring Alan Vivian and guests, this concert footage includes a concluding Q&A forum with the artists which was open to web viewers, and links to an interactive blog with behind the scenes footage and interviews.
