Dan is a professional musician with more than twenty-five years of playing behind him and over sixteen years of teaching experience in both Sydney and Canberra.  Beginning his career at aged 8, Dan won a series of local music awards before going on to study at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music High School and then completing a Bachelor of Music with first class honours at the ANU.

Dan is a versatile and experienced performer, with professional training in both jazz and classical trumpet.  Since graduating from the ANU Dan has performed both nationally and internationally in a wide range of music styles including jazz, pop, rock, blues, contemporary, classical and musical theatre.  In this capacity Dan has been actively sought out to contribute to a large number of CD/LP recordings as well as jazz festivals, musical theatre and contemporary jazz projects.  Highlights have included playing with James Morrison, lead trumpet with Royal Caribbean Cruises, Grace Knight, Lily Dior and several of Canberra’s leading jazz and pop bands.

Dan has composed a large body of music that he performs regularly.  In 2008 he was the musical director for a contemporary dance project ‘Enduring Intimacy’ at the National Gallery of Australia, composing and performing the entire project.

Dan’s extensive teaching experience includes being a co-ordinator and teacher of the Canberra Institute of Technology’s Advanced Diploma of Music, brass tuition and musical theory at ANU School of Music, Canberra Grammar Schools and his private studio.
