Classical Horn

A native Canberran, Carly began playing horn at an early age, and quickly become fascinated with the instrument and its possibilities.  An experienced performer of many styles of music, Carly studied with Helen McDougall, Ysolt Clarke and Len Fischer before completing a Bachelor of Music (ANU) with Dominic Harvey.  Carly has worked as a session musician for a variety of ensembles and recordings throughout Australia in the course of her playing career.

Carly was a member of the critically acclaimed contemporary chamber group, the Gryffin Ensemble, from 2008 to 2012, releasing a CD with this group, Illicit Passions, in 2011. Carly is currently a member of the Band of the Royal Military College, Duntroon and performs regularly with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, the Canberra International Music Festival, as well as lending her skills to local musical theatre and community ensembles.

Carly has a passion for music education and is actively involved in the development of young horn players in and around Canberra.  She is an experienced educator and conductor, and currently teaches in several Canberra schools in addition to her private studio.  Carly has been a tutor in French horn at ANU since 2011.
