Haunting the fringes between electro-acoustic, experimental, and pastoral-indie, Happy Axe is an arresting new presence in the Australian sound scene. Her command of electronic textures, as well as acoustic instruments such as violin and saw, has reduced even the rowdiest pub crowds into rapt silent attention.

Happy Axe is the solo project of Emma Kelly; violinist, sawist, vocalist, from Canberra. She grew up in the remote wilderness of Wildesmeadow NSW, where she spent her time practicing the violin and taking her friends on unexpectedly long hikes to waterfalls.

Happy Axe uses violin, musical saw, and vocals to create layers of sound that are beautiful, unsettling and cinematic. Organic instrumental sounds are melded with digital manipulation, looping and effecting, and sounds are generated live.

Take a seat on the grass and soak up the spellbinding atmosphere among the flowers.
