Where: Level 5 Foyer, School of Music Cafe
When: Sunday September 20th 1pm-5pm
Throughout the history of the School there has always been staff of exceptional creativity, knowledge and passion. Larry Sitsky, a prominent Australian composer and pianist, has been at the School of Music since its inception in 1965; with him came the opportunity for quality and intensive composition training. David Worrall, the current Distinguished Artist in Residence and renowned electro-acoustic composer, arrived in 1986 and helped develop an innovative and unique composition stream that utilised new technology and looked boldly to the future. Through interviews with these two composers, a vivid oral history of composition at the school of music has been recorded.
Fundamentals is an homage to innovation in composition, celebrating a tradition of creativity and musical vision through performance, and an exhibition of the work of many composers who have taught at the ANU School of Music over the past 50 years.
