Family & Children's concert - 28 September

Eight student ensembles and two guest bands will take to the stage at Floriade 2015 in The Australian National University (ANU) School of Music Rhythm & Blooms concert series.

The Rhythm & Blooms concert series has been involved with Floriade for more than 10 years.

This year's event includes an 11-day program featuring funk-soul orchestra sensation Kylie Auldist and Queensland musicians Kristin Berardi, Sean Foran and Rafael Karlen, as well as recent ACT National Bands competition winners Kaleid.

The program also includes appearances from ANU student ensembles including The Hugo Lee Trio, alumni musicians Rachael Thoms and Lachlan Coventry, the ANU New Music Ensemble and the Jazz Vocal Showcase.

"ANU is delighted to partner with Floriade once again to showcase the talents of some of Australia's most talented student musicians," said interim Head of the ANU School of Music, Dr Royston Gustavson.

"What better way to enjoy Floriade than to complement the sights and smells of the flowers with the sounds of the music of outstanding musicians."

The ongoing partnership provides ANU School of Music students with the opportunity to perform to the almost 500,000 people who attend the Floriade festival each year.

The full Rhythm & Blooms program can be found on the ANU School of Music website http://music.anu.edu.au/events/series/floriade-2015-rhythm-blooms-series.
