This is a truly international band, combining two expats based in Germany, with two from Austria, and one from Hungary. Guitarist-composer Peter O’Mara began his career in Sydney in the late ‘70s. Having received the Don Banks Fellowship, he travelled to New York to study in 1981, then settled in Munich the following year. Over three decades in Germany, Peter has released a series of acclaimed albums of original music, and has recorded and toured throughout Europe, Australia, Brazil and North America, with such artists as Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor, Charlie Mariano, Joe Lovano, Passport, Bob Mintzer, Adrian Mears, Mike Nock, Dale Barlow, Adam Nussbaum and The United Jazz & Rock Ensemble.

Peter last performed at Wangaratta in 2002. For this tour, he will lead his Vienna-based band, Affiliation, with Munich-based expat American Tim Collins (vibraphone) and two colleagues from Passport, Austrians Michael Hornek (keyboards) and Christian Lettner (drums). Tim was featured on Peter’s 2011 CD My Time, while Affiliation’s exciting sound is captured on the 2012 double-CD, Live At Schloss Miltach. The latest addition to the lineup is Hungarian bass guitarist Imre Bajka.

Peter says, “We aim to present an exciting mixture of modern jazz, odd-meter fusion and groove. The unique sound of the group is characterised by guitar and vibraphone sharing melodies and interacting on the highest musical level. Add the incredible talent of Michael, whose keyboards cover the harmonic framework as well as playing basslines with a rock-solid groove, while Christian Lettner provides dynamic versatility and drive. Imre will further strengthen the band, while allowing Michael more room to stretch out.”
