ANU music research seminar
Each semester, we also convene a robust series of ANU Music research seminars, which is the premier forum for academic staff, invited guests and postgraduate researchers of the ANU School of Music to present their work.
Music conferences and festivals
ANU School of Music reguarly hosts conferences and festivals that offer valuable opportunities for research development and professional networking among staff, students, visitors, and government and industry partners. These include meetings of bodies in which our academics hold prominent leadership roles. Adjunct A/Prof Stephen Wild was Secretary-General of the peak UNESCO body, the International Council of Traditional Music (ICTM), before being elected Vice-President in 2011. ANU School of Music was the 2015 host for the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM) ANZ branch conference, and in 2016 hosted the Internatoinal Community for Auditory Display (ICAD) conference as well as the International Colourstrings Conference. In 2017 it will host the Women in the Creative Arts International Conference, and in 2019 the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM) biennial conference.
Music research resources at ANU
Research within the ANU School of Music is supported by the extensive collection of musical scores and recordings in our Art and Music Library, and by our vast collection of musicial instruments and music technology from throughout history and around the world. Research students based on our Acton campus enjoy ready access to Australia's finest national libraries and collections, and can also be eligible to make use of ANU's Melbourne, Kioloa and Darwin campuses.
