Song Co & Co: Old songs, new songs, shared songs,

Date & time

4–6pm 7 July 2013

Llewellyn Hall

Song Co & Co – old songs, new songs, shared songs featuring the premiere of a satirical cantata entitled “Howls of the House” by Tim Hansen (composer) and Hal Judge (librettist).

A Centenary of Canberra Project,  "Howls of the House" takes a satirical look at life in Parliament House - both chambers as well as the corridors, the estimate rooms and the offices;  a city within a city. The piece draws inspiration from both the solemn and serious moments of our parliamentary history as well as the daily spectacle of our political circus.

This new work, a cantata of approximately 20 minutes, is the centre piece of a varied program which will involve Oriana Chorale, con voci, University of Newcastle Chamber Choir and Leichhardt Espresso Chorus with the Song Company as their anchor.

Other works on the program include Australian folk songs and pieces by Britten, Ford and Wesley-Smith.
