Raah Project at CJP 2013 highlights

Monday 2 September 2013

The School of Music and The Street Theatre partnered again this August for the 3rd annual Capital Jazz Project, a mid-winter jazz festival which highlights the wealth of jazz talent in the nation's capital.  The festival attracts big-name artists from all around Australia, including 2013 Artists-in-Residence, The Raah Project - Ryan Ritchie and Tamil Rogeon.  The Raah Project takes on the established ideas of electronica, the chamber orchestra, hip hop, pop, contemporary, dance and soul music. They are renowned for infusing their own original arrangements with electrifying strings, big-band beats and sublime vocals that span jazz to beat poetry, and combining them with intense visuals to create a compelling new musical vision. The Raah Project collaborated with over 30 School of Music students during a week long residency, culminating in a sold-out show at the Street Theatre on the 10th of August 2013.  The energy and passion of this unique and exciting collaboration were beautifully captured by gifted local photographer, Brian Stewart.
