Melody Makers is an exciting educational and community initiative linking the ANU School of Music with Music for Canberra and the Music Engagement Program. Student musicians from Canberra schools work with the ANU Music Engagement Program to write short melodies. These melodies are assigned to ANU student composers in the ANU Bachelor of Music program, for setting into short pieces for string orchestra. The pieces will be workshopped and rehearsed by players of the Canberra Youth Orchestra, conducted by Leonard Weiss. The project culminates in a public performance on Saturday 29 April 2017 which is free and open to the public.
