Acclaimed award-winning Queensland musicians Kristin Berardi, Sean Foran and Rafael Karlen, will perform the breathtakingly original music of their newly formed trio BERARDI/FORAN/KARLEN on Saturday, 19 September.

Connecting with Floriade’s 2015 ANZAC-inspired theme ‘Reflection’, the music of BERARDI/FORAN/KARLEN commemorates the ANZAC legacy by exploring the powerful experiences and emotions contained in the correspondence of men and women involved in Australia’s military past.

Beardi, Foran and Karlen new work for piano, voice and saxophone draws inspiration from ANZAC letters and journals. Exploring themes of hope, fear, separation, loss, love, and conditions of war, the songs use elements of jazz and folk music in an intensely intimate and moving way. Berardi's captivating melodies intertwine with shifting piano harmonies and saxophone tones with effortless grace, blurring the lines between improvisation and composition.
