Carmina Burana

Carmina Burana

Nicholas Milton – Conductor
Tobias Cole – Music Director
CCS Massed Chorus

Hundreds were turned away from the Canberra Symphony Orchestra’s last performance of Carmina Burana. It was an extraordinary musical event that sold out within days of going on sale and it featured over seven hundred choral and orchestral performers on stage. Experience our irrepressibly dynamic Chief Conductor Nicholas Milton working his inspirational, musical magic on this emotional blockbuster of awesome power and overwhelming emotion. In terms of mood, atmosphere and spirit, the music of Beethoven’s most sublime overture splendidly conveys the dramatic qualities of oppression, resolve, hope, and joyous deliverance. This sublime concert continues with two of Wagner’s most enduring compositions, including his immortal Ride of the Valkyries. An evening never to be forgotten - an experience of epic, blockbuster proportions that serves as fitting conclusion to a spectacular Llewellyn series in 2013.

Pre-concert talk at 6:45pm in Llewellyn Hall.
