Jazz Concert

The ANU School of Music is thrilled to welcome a new member of the academic team, jazz bassist and composer, Dr Alexander Hunter.

A graduate of Northern Illinois University, specialising in double bass and jazz, Alec has multiple ‘strings to his bow’. He is also an ethnomusicologist, and session musician with a PhD from Edinburgh Napier University. Alec recently relocated to Canberra from Scotland to take up his position as Lecturer (Open School) at the ANU School of Music.

This concert will feature original compositions and improvisations, and will draw on talented faculty and student musicians from the School of Music. In addition to these live sounds, videos from Glasgow-based artist, Lauren Hunter, will be projected in the performance space. These abstract videos will interact on various levels with the soundscape, at times influencing each other, and other times merely existing in the same space.

Come along to the gig and join us in welcoming Alec to our community.
