Growing With Early Childhood Programs

These integrated developmental programs engage young children, aged 0 to 6, in musical experiences through a range of creative music education approaches. Through singing, movement, playing, listening and games, presented in a fun-filled musical environment, children develop rhythmic and melodic skills, understanding of musical concepts and basic notation, and general musicality and imagination.

These classes foster children’s self-discovery and creativity through activities that lay the foundation for future musical development and prepare children to move into other pre-tertiary programs and instrumental and vocal studies. A principal element of these programs is the active participation of the parent or carer.

Parents and caregivers do not require any previous musical experience.

Music And Movement

These beginning activities for children and their parent or caregiver held in a fun-filled and relaxed atmosphere are designed to encourage and develop an awareness of the each individual child’s natural affinity with music. Teaching techniques range from singing, movement, listening and participation in games.

Creative Music-Making

A dynamic and interactive class supporting the musical development of children in creative group activities. Creative Music-Making is an exciting class that encourages children to develop their own unique musical voice, through its focus on the acquisition of rhythmic, melodic and creative skills in a supportive and nurturing environment. Games and songs from a range of musical traditions form the basis of the children’s learning.

ELIGIBILITY: 1 - 2 years

Coming Together

The Coming Together program brings together musical, interpretative and improvisation skills through exposure of children to an integrated musical teaching and learning environment. This approach enables children to understand music both aurally and visually. Building on their previous musical experiences, children have the opportunity to express their ideas through creating, sharing, and performing. A range of basic musical instruments are used as part of this process and this provides children with a foundation for participation in other pre-tertiary programs.

ELIGIBILITY: 3 – 4 years
CLASS SIZE: 6 - 10 children

caregivers in group activities carried out in a friendly, happy environment. Activities include singing, movement, rhythm games, playing elementary instruments and reading basic notation. During the class, children develop musical concepts and skills,. The aim of the course is to provide preparatory, sequential musicianship training that will enhance and overlap with future instrumental tuition.
