The ANU School of Music plays a key role as a cultural catalyst within its community and region, and prides itself on its strong and productive partnerships with external music organisations - locally, nationally and internationally.
Our outreach endeavours and collaborative ventures span across our curricula, ranging from early childhood music education to elite performance training, professional practice initiatives, musicology, ethnomusicology and practice led research, and major live streamed concerts and presentations.

Rhythm 'n' Blooms, Floriade 2009
As part of Floriade 2009, the ANU School of Music will present Rhythm ’n’ Blooms – a lunchtime concert series on Stage 88, most weekdays during Floriade at 12.30pm. A comprehensive program of events showcasing the talented staff and students from the School, from jazz to classical, from solos to ensembles.

Music Education Program (MEP)
Through its teacher programs, outreach concerts, shared goals, shared repertoire, school-to-school and school-to-community activities, the MEP encourages music-making as a part of the normal social and cultural lives of all participants, regardless of age or skill level.

Instrumental Workshops at High Schools and Colleges
In 2009 the ANU School of Music together with the Canberra Girls' Grammar School are offering a series of music lectures and workshops. Coordinated by Arnan Wiesel, the workshops cover a range of instruments and styles of music. Two joint students concerts are planned.
Opening the ANU School of Music concert year, the Friends of the School together with the Keyboard Area presented a multi-piano concert in Llewellyn Hall, in which 4 CGGS students took part.

ArtSound FM Series
A series of 10 programs with staff and students from the ANU School of Music is currently being broadcast on ARTSOUND. The series include 5 staff programs with School of Music senior Lecturers - Tim Kain, Alice Giles and Arnan Wiesel. Students programs include interviews and the performance of solo, chamber music and vocal works.

Alice Giles and Liena Lacey with the Harp Centre Australia won a $10,000 Award for Excellence in the ACT Innovation 2009 Business Plan and Commercialisation Program
Regional Outreach and Engagement
Goulburn Regional Conservatorium
In August 2009 The ANU School of Music collaborated with the Goulburn Regional Conservatorium School Music Days. Over 2,000 Primary and High school students attended workshops and presentations by School of Music staff and students. Presentations included:
- Alan Hicks and students from the Voice area presented an Opera presentation.
- Alice Giles and Liena Lacey gave a Harp presentation
- Gary France and percussion students
- Arnan Wiesel and piano students and Olle Palmquist presented a Rhythm workshop.
- Susan West presented a workshop for music teachers.
The DRUMatiX Percussion Group

DRUMatiX is the resident percussion ensemble at the Australian National University School of Music, comprised of percussion students studying at the ANU. It is an ensemble dedicated to presenting the rich and diverse repertoire written exclusively for percussion. DRUMatiX have won numerous national prizes for their presentation of percussion music across all genres including a Canberra Critics Circle Award in 2004. Under the direction of Gary France the ANU Percussion program has hosted and convened numerous international symposiums, master schools and conferences.
DRUMatiX have recently returned from a successful Concert Tour of the South Coast NSW (11th – 14th September, 2009), with a residence at the Nowra Anglican College and performances at the Saphire Coast Music Society, Narooma High School Auditorium and the Montague Choristers Visiting Artists Program in the Wolumla Community Centre.
