Video Media Project Intern

Position Remuneration: $1500

Position Description

This internship is specifically attached to one 50th Anniversary School of Music Project.

In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary celebrations, The School of Music, through the Open School of Music Student Outreach and Engagement Program, is seeking to develop the skills and, experience, and contacts of a student interested and experienced in the field of video editing. The successful applicant will be working with a small team of staff who are delivering an ongoing series of videoed oral histories, which tell the story of the School of Music.

With the support of a videographer, a Projects Officer, and two staff members dedicated to editing feedback, the role of the Intern will be to edit each interview from raw material into a refined video that is able to be uploaded to the School of Music's 50th Anniversary website, YouTube account, and used for marketing and promotional purposes. The Intern will be provided with a studio space to work on materials, including the adequate suite of editing tools to deliver this project.

Outcomes of Internship

This internship is designed to offer the successful applicant ongoing experience in a team of communications, music and media professionals. It will give the applicant an opportunity to develop and deepen their understanding of media editing, independence and communication in a team-environment, and content production. Each of these skills are vital, in a contemporary climate, to growing a performer, media professional, or academic’s outreach, skills set, and profile.

The successful applicant will also be welcomed into a community of Arts Professionals, who are keen to grow a proactive and supportive community for students and new artists, who are looking to develop skills vital to their emerging artistic careers.

At the close of the internship, the successful applicant will receive a letter of support or recommendation, upon request, to assist them in seeking further opportunities in the fields of AudioVisual Content Production and Editing. The internship will be conducted under the supervision and support of both the Events Coordinator and Projects Officer at the School of Music.
